The Council reviews applications when staff receives them and there are vacancies that will need to be filled. The Council’s Membership Committee leads this process by asking applicants to fill out a supplemental form and interviewing the leading candidates. Members of the Council are appointed by the Governor. The Governor acts upon the recommendations of the Council and other organizations representing a broad range of individuals with disabilities and organizations interested in individuals with disabilities.
Each member of the Council shall serve for a term of 3 years, except when appointed to fill a vacancy. No member of the Council may serve more than two consecutive full terms.
A vacancy occurring in the membership of the Council is generally filled in the same manner as the original appointment. The vacancy shall not affect the power of the remaining members to execute the duties of the Council.
